The Big Move

Riley and I are preparing for “The Big Move” (both literally and metaphorically) and I thought, what better moment than that of a new chapter in my life to start a new blog? I’m sure it’s what just about anyone would ask in a similar situation, after all.

In a nutshell, this new blog will provide somewhat useless updates on my life to the general public, also known as Internet users, with access to my not-so-secret URL. It will also, eventually (patience is a virtue) be home to book reviews written by none other than The Pagemaster herself (me) and other random entries as my mood sees fit. We’ll see where my mind takes me over the next however long I can keep this going.

Back to “The Big Move”:

I’ve never lived with a boy before (outside my immediate family) so this is going to be a big change! Who am I kidding, we’ve been living together in two apartments for the past 4 months now. We keep telling everyone it’s the “logical” thing to do and it’s a smart financial decision and blah blah, but we both know it’s just because we don’t want to trek stuff back and forth to each others’ respective apartments every night! It can get slightly tedious, but it is good for the arm muscles!

All my stuff is pretty much packed, since my moving day is on April 30th. Riley’s will come within the next couple weeks since he still has ’til the first of June. A little buffer is always nice. We can ease into the new living setting instead of just crashing in all at once.

The key word of the past month has been : “DOWNSIZING”

I feel like I’ve thrown out or recycled SO MUCH OF MY STUFF. It’s amazing to think I had space for it all to begin with! It was all pretty fun though. I feel somewhat cleaner and free of my unnecessary material possessions.

Sorting out what is who’s and who’s is what between roommates on the other hand is such a pain in the rear. Why does it always have to be like that? I guess it’s something majority of the population have to go through at some point… Living with people is somewhat inevitable. If you’re lucky, they’re pretty sweet and give you whiskey in exchange for manual labour (thanks Myriam if you ever read this!).

Moving can be a bit overwhelming at times though. I actually got to the point last night where I was trying to map out EVERY SINGLE TRIP EACH MOVING PARTICIPANT IN MY CIRCLE OF HELPERS WOULD MAKE TO AND FROM THE MOVING TRUCK.. (I realize now how extremely OCD this was..so unlike me.. not) and Riley burst out laughing at me. This caused me to burst into a crying fit. I don’t know why I’m so nervous about the physical aspect of moving. I just want everything to go perfect, but I have to remain calm and be flexible.

I’m trying to be more relaxed these days.. it doesn’t always work out. I’m TRYING THOUGH!

Supper’s in the oven and my hard-working hunk is calling my name. Last Monday in Apartment One.

The countdown is real.
