April Date

Our April date from Hannah was a game night!

This ain't no April Fool's joke folks!

There were FOUR new card games that can be played by two (or more) people. All of which we'd never played before! [We'd played UNO, but not UNO: Dare!]

We played them in the following order:

- Dutch Blitz

- UNO: Dare!

- Rook

* Tetris - We tried to play this but the instructions were in French so we looked for the English version online and were trying to understand. Lazy Sunday got the best of us and there were too many new rules and terms for our weekend brains to comprehend. We saved it for another day when we'll be feeling particularly alert.

My favourite game was Dutch Blitz. I seemed to take to the game very quickly. Riley on the other hand was having a bit of a struggle, bless his heart. Eventually we both got in the swing of it. It would be so fun to play this with two other people since it seems much more challenging. Don't let the terms "wood pile," "blitz pile," "post pile," and "dutch pile," fool you. It's a very simple game if you play a slow round to start.

UNO: Dare! was really funny. The dare's included with the game (there are three different sets) are quite harmless and difficult to carry out since we were only two people playing and turns go by so quickly. This would be HILARIOUS to play with a large table of people where you can go rounds and rounds without even playing a card thanks to skip your turns and change the ways. We'll have to make up our own "house rules" on the fourth dare card set! Make things interesting...

Rook was also fun! It reminded me of Euchre since the concept is very similar. The two-person game is much different and slightly challenging. The first person to get 300 points wins, but you can obtain negative scores making it almost impossible to reach that! After multiple rounds neither Riley or I were clearing 100... Fun fact: if you're two players you don't even play with the "Rook" card! #HUH

I think we'll need to host a game night soon because these are going to be a whole new ballgame with more people involved!

Our game collection is seriously attaining "Goals" status. Riley even said we'll need to factor in a "game storage" area when we're apartment hunting this summer. It's a necessary element to our new home. Haha!
