My best friend Hannah asked me to provide her with a list of my fave face products to recommend. Naturally, I obliged with a full-blown detailed breakdown!
Thought I'd share my list of top 10 face-clearing products with you here. After all, if it's great enough for my best friend, it's good enough for my blog!
*Note that they are in no particular order of preference / price range.
FREEMAN’S MINT & LEMON CLAY MASK
Where to buy: Walmart
Why to buy: This one feels so refreshing and is not too harsh. It’s fresh lemony scent and minty tinglyness are sure to give you a pick me up.
$: About $3 or 4.00
*Freeman has a lot of other masks (1-time usage ones too), but I can’t vouch for any other kind than this one.
OLAY’S PURE-CLAY MASK
Where to buy: Most pharmacies
Why to buy: This one goes on wet and dries up so you can barely move your face. Once you get to that stage, just wash off. I use this as a spot treatment when I have problem areas, or about once a month for a full recovery mode. Super important to put cream on once you’ve washed and dried since it’s INTENSE! (a good intense). It can get a bit messy when washing off, so I’d suggest doing it in the shower and/or using a face cloth to get you started.
$: About $4 or 5.00 BUT IT LASTS FOREVER
ST-IVES APRICOT SCRUB
Where to buy: Most pharmacies
Why to buy: This classic gem is great for a full face mask where you lay it on thick and leave on for 15ish minutes OR just a dime-size quick scrub while in the shower. Pretty sure you’ve heard of this one before, but it’s a decent scrub for the price. Would slap on some moisturizer after use!
$: About $4 or 5.00
SEPHORA SHEET MASKS
Where to buy: Sephora
Why to buy: These are a little on the pricey side as far as sheet masks go, but they often have deals like buy 2 get 1. I use these when I’m feeling sluggish and need a mental / emotional detox as well as face detox. My fave is the pearl one, but they have a ton to choose from.
$: $8.00 each
NUTROGENA PINK GRAPEFRUIT FOAMING SCRUB
Where to buy: Pharmacies
Why to buy: This one smells like heaven and is just the right balance of gentle and rough. It has more medicated ingredients that work to unclog pores and treat unwanted breakouts (WHEN ARE THEY EVER WANTED?!!? I DON’T KNOW!). I used this a lot in high school when my skin was rough to say the least.
$: About $9.00 (maybe less)
LUSH’S MASK OF MAGNAMINTY FRESH FACE SCRUB
Where to buy: Lush
Why to buy: This fresh face mask is hand crafted by our friends at Lush. It gives a cooling sensation and who doesn’t like all natural ingredients? You can store it in the fridge for added cooling effect. I’d use this once a week, maybe twice, max.
$: $15.00 for the smaller pot, but they often will give you a free sample size to test it out and see if you like it before you buy so TRY THAT FIRST! Some employees are super generous…
LUSH’S BUNNY MOON JELLY FACE MASK
Where to buy: Lush
Why to buy: I recently got a free sample of this and it lasted me TWO FULL MASKS (it was only the size of a loonie). The mask is super gentle and feels soothing both during and after. It’s a jelly face mask (scared me at first) so you have to work it in your hand to break it down and “melt it” before applying to your face. I’ll definitely be purchasing a full size on my next trip in, it worked great.
$: $14.00 (try for a free sample though!)
GARNIER SKIN ACTIVE MOISTURE BOMB FACE MASK
Where to buy: Pharmacies
Why to buy: This is a super affordable moisture burst. They’re not kidding when they say it has a week’s worth of hydrating serum in the mask bag. You can even keep the leftover serum and apply throughout the week for added hydration. I’ve found that hydrated skin is happier skin so even though this isn’t designed to clear up any problem areas, it calms the face right down and leaves you feeling fresh. I always keep a couple in my stash for dry skin days. I’ve tried them all in this line so no matter what “flavour” you pick, they’re all good. A vacation must-have.
$: About $3.00 each
AVENE SOOTHING MOISTURE MASK
Where to buy: Pharmacies
Why to buy: From the creators of our wonderful face mist, Avène has a great soothing moisture mask if you’re looking for something a little more high-end. Usually I don’t go for this type of stuff unless I’m feeling fancy.
$: $25.00
GLAMGLOW’S #MULTIMASKING MASK TREATMENT SET
Where to buy: Sephora
Why to buy: I’ve tried almost all of these masks (I have the blue hydrating one in full size, and the white one in mini sample size right now) and they’re really great. Higher quality, higher price, but these can last a really long time if you use them sparingly. They each target a different area so you can use according to how your skin is doing. I swear by the blue and the white is great for spot treatments.
$: $49.00 (there are other packages / prices on the website)
