Today I decided to try and make my way home from work on foot.
Although I’m not 100% sure of all the streets I’m supposed to take in order to render the journey efficient, I did my best to follow the 107 bus route I mindlessly take twice a day.
There’s been so much traffic and construction on the path, that it takes AN ETERNITY to get home… On a bus filled with tired and cranky, not to mention sweaty given the recent temperature change, Montrealers, it’s not what you’d call “a top-notch situation”.
I tapped on my Nike+ app and ran-jog-walked until the bus caught up to me (which took a while given the traffic as previously mentioned). Conveniently, I didn’t know which way to go next. Good timing.
Once I had regained my sense of direction, I hopped off and pressed “resume”.
In 30 minutes I was able to do 3.42km at my slowish-shin-splint-speed.
(Gotta love wearing heels all day at work! Ouch.)
Instead of trying to increase my kilometers as I did last summer, regardless of the time it took to do so, I’m going to run 30 minutes and see what I can get accomplished.
I’m not an amazing runner, but Riley is pretty swell with the whole endurance thang. If I can keep up with him for 30 minutes, I’ll consider it a workout well done.
Time to hit the showers!
