Get Home, Granola. Wake Up, Granola.

Riley and I set out for Atwater market on foot yesterday.
We had spontaneously gone there Friday night by bus to explore, bringing a dozen oysters home with us, which both of us tried for the first time. It was a really cool experience and words cannot express how incredible it is that Riley enjoys seafood as much as I do. I’m really going off on a tangent here.
Back to the main subject: Granola.
One of the little stores was jam-packed with various food items, specialty teas, and Bulk Barn-style candies, cooking ingredients, and more.
There was a section within the aisles that was completely dedicated to making your own granola blends. I thought it would be a fun weekend activity to get a bunch of random ingredients from the store and make our own versions to lavishly pour over yogurt.
I’m used to adding chia seeds to my yogurt, but it’s gotten a little bland.
After a walk back to our apartment and over to Dollarama (what’s a granola-making session without purchasing the two massive jars to hold our mixes?!), we were ready to put our creations together.
Since Riley is more of a fruit-lover than I (although I surprised myself by actually enjoying dried mangoes), we made his & her mixes.
Mine has a combination of: -Honey and hemp oats -Hemp hearts -Pumpkin, flax, and chia seeds -Maca powder -Little pieces of white chocolate -and ginger (optional)
Riley’s has a combination of: -Coconut and mango oats -Hemp hearts -Flax and chia seeds -Dried mangoes, dried cranberries, and dried apricots (optional)
We had a little taste yesterday and loved it so much that one of the first words we uttered waking up this morning was “granola”.
Our walking journey was JUST SHY of 10km. My hips are feeling it, they’re not gonna lie…
Both granola jars are now sitting pretty in our kitchen and will most likely last us a little while, but I’m super excited to repeat the exercise and try different recipes!
