Riley’s fave band, Coheed and Cambria, came to Montreal last week.
As I write this, my ears have now safely returned to their normal state. We were right up front for the concert and it was definitely the loudest one I’ve been to so far!
They didn’t end up playing Atlas, but I made up for it as I not-so-patiently broke out into the chorus on my own throughout the whole show.
Riley sported some borderline (he says it wasn’t borderline…gotta love an honest man) repulsive onion breath thanks to Green Spot Restaurant’s all dressed burger. Let’s just say I gave a new meaning to “true love” as I stayed by his side as we both sang the songs. If that doesn’t paint the picture, I dont know what will.
So many people in attendance were clearly DIE HARD fans since they knew every word and pause to every single number that was played. It was insane. The songs are pretty complex too for those of you who don’t know…
Polyphia, one of the openers, was an instrumental band; something I’d never experienced at a live show. I enjoyed the music which resembled 1975’s (the closest comparison I can think of). The whole time I kept thinking that it would have been soooooo amazing with lyrics. It would probably make for some stellar background music for Chez Ramanda dinners.
To each his/her own.
I’ll have you know we RAN to the gas station for some mints after the concert came to an end and we resembled a 90 year old couple screaming “WHAAAAT?!” at each other for the rest of the night.
Totally. Worth. It.
