Last night was Riley’s staff Christmas party, so I was solo-Sally at the apartment.
As to be expected, my night consisted of tidying up, relaxing in a bubble bath while reading Chicken Soup for the Bride’s Soul, and knitting in front of the Netflix Original Gilmore Girls Season 1.
I was in no way prepared for the news Riley was about to tell me as I saw his face light up on my phone.
Thinking it was weird of him to be calling mid-party, I answered.
Among a screaming group of people Riley tried to start a conversation with me. I could tell he was in a happy mood so any worries that something may be wrong were instantly wiped from my mind.
Once he reached a place that was significantly quieter, he announced that he had just won two tickets to Paris.
It took me a solid 10 seconds to really believe him…
At first I thought his colleagues, in a drunken stupor perhaps, had convinced him to prank me. I asked him at least 3 times if it was a prank or if this was real life, and it appeared to be the latter. They had each received a raffle ticket earlier that day and the biggest prize being drawn was the trip.
I’ll never forget the moment Riley said, “Babe, we’re going to Paris!” and I believed him.
With tears in my eyes, we ended our phone call and I was holding back a scream of joy in my dead silent apartment.
I immediately texted my friends and family. Rightly so, barely anyone could believe it either.
WE ARE GOING TO PARIS!!!
Riley has yet to receive the fine print and details about what exactly is included and when we can go, but we’d REALLY like to make this our honeymoon so fingers crossed!
I still can’t believe we get to go to Paris!!!!!!
Ahhhhhh!
