Venue: Check. Food: Check.

Just like that, we have the wedding venue and food locked in.

Riley’s aunt showed us a couple of promising venue options located near his hometown on Christmas. Right then and there, we knew we had to set some solid goals to call and reserve one of these gems as soon as possible.

We fell in love with one place and within a week, we had visited the location and put down a deposit for our special day. It’s located on an apple/blueberry orchard with a beautiful ceremony AND reception area. NOT TO MENTION, they also offer food options AND we get to control the bar. WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN (I lost count…)

It could not be more perfect for what we want.

It’s the type of place where you barely need decorations. Simply spectacular. Plus, we saw it in the dead of winter! I can only imagine how much greater it will be on our summer wedding day.

With the venue and food in place, it’s now on to the, while still important, smaller details like bridesmaid dresses and launching the wedding website.

My dreams of planning my wedding are coming true! I still need to pinch myself from time to time.

With way too many details already waiting for Riley and I to press send on than I care to admit, we’re well set for a slow, smooth planning process.

I keep joking to everyone that planning our Paris honeymoon is going to be way more detailed and stressful. I know it will be, but that’s what’s so exciting!

If everyone knew the amount of brainstorming Riley and I have already put in on our long drives to our hometowns, they’d understand. At this point we have a dozen wedding visions planned in addition to the one that we’ll call our very own in August. All that’s left to do is cross the t’s and dot the i’s… throughout the next 7 months.

It’s exciting to see the wedding start to take shape. I’m sure there will be many “pick our battle moments” in the months to come, but it’ll all be worth it.

I think I’ll keep this quote in mind for a while…

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
