Scc Spa Urbain: Spray Tan

Now that I knew the lay of the land at Scc Spa Urbain, I felt comfortable enough to go there and get naked.
Usually all it takes to get to that level is one visit to a place, right? Hahaha
Spa owner, SC, told me she’d love to have me in and try a spray tan.
I was a little bit nervous at first since, for those of you who don’t know, I’m basically categorized somewhere in between the “light-white / transparent / ivory” foundation complexion. I may touch my big toe into the pool of “sandy beige” during summer, but that’s about it…
I was scared to come out looking like Donny-Trump on HDTV and be heckled by my colleagues and family about my decision.
My experience was of course, no where near that. In the end, I had absolutely nothing to worry about.
I followed the steps by exfoliating a couple nights before and showed up no-makeup Friday to get my (spray) tan on.
Any nerves I had were washed away once I set foot in the spa. Had a tea and waited to change into my birthday suit.
The spraying sesh took about 8 minutes.
SC kept laughing at my preparedness since I knew almost exactly how to stand thanks to a few YouTube tutorials I checked out.
The tan was a little cold as it came into contact with my skin, but it was nothing like the negative one-hundred degrees Celsius weather we got this week. Sigh…
Then I was left to dry, which took another 8-10 minutes.
As I started to darken, I got another manicure.
I am now sporting Vinylux Week Long Nail Polish by CND, which is a 7-day chip-resistant brand. I opted for Creekside (a sky blue shade) this time. I’m hoping it lasts the full seven days since I’m absolutely in love with the colour.
Back to my tanning experience:
I wasn’t allowed to shower for 8 hours, which meant I would have had to stay up past midnight. Even for a Friday night… it was late. Rough week guys.. rough week.
The next morning (today), Riley and I were woken up to the fire alarm on our floor going off. We all headed downstairs while waiting for the firemen to clear the false alarm (protocol..).
Apparently, I was such a different shade that our immediate neighbour didn’t even recognize me! He asked Riley where I was throughout the whole alarm debacle this morning, when all the while I was standing RIGHT beside him. I couldn’t stop laughing.
The top layer of tan washed off in the shower and I am now supporting a casual summer-esk glow. It’s reallt neat and makes my teeth look whiter.
Bonus!
I don’t think this is something I would maintain on a weekly basis, but it does smooth out the look of my skin and make me feel a little more toned. I’m sure that’s just a mental thing, but I’m all for body positivity!
SC was telling me she’s been having trouble bringing in clients for spray tans these days. That confused me quite a bit. During weeks like this, I’d do anything to get a little taste of the south weather. If a tan and a cold beer bring that vibe, heck, I’ll take it!
I should also mention that Scc Spa uses Norvell tanning spray as seen on Dancing With the Stars. This is so perfect, since I may be getting my groove on tonight at the Arkells concert with Riley as we “make a wish at 11:11”.
Happy weekend friends!
