Smugglers’ Notch Resort: Vermont

Riley and I have now been to TWO STATES!

We made the executive decision to travel down to meet up with my mom, dad, sister, aunt, uncle, and their two friends in Vermont.

It took us only two hours to reach Smugglers’ Notch Resort and we managed to find the place without the help of our cellular data. Ah-may-zing.

The weather was still super warm as we pulled in to the parking lot around 7:00pm Friday evening.

We had a bite to eat with the fam who had already finished dinner, and got a couple glasses of wine/beer into us. Next, we headed over to the aqua centre for some hot tub and pooling fun with Millie.

The night was still young!

We came back to the room (more like 3 bedroom condo extravaganza) and dried off since Dad and the elders wanted to hit up a local joint for some live music and more beers.

Riley and I tested out the local IPA brew. It was really good! The one-man-band was a good time and we ended up being one of the last groups to leave.

I conked out on the couch while holding Riley’s hand that night. He and Millie stayed up late and made silly videos on Snapchat (still while holding my hand for some).

The sun woke me up the next morning and we had a big breakfast as a gang. Dad was cookin’.

It was a Burlington-shopping-Saturday. We got to listen to the new Brad Paisley album in the car. Dad didn’t even make me switch songs! Miracle…

My mom got her Mother-of-the-Bride dress and we had a great lunch (and more local beers) at a restaurant just off the main shopping street. I specially crafted a new dish by getting them to substitute black olives for jalapenos on the nachos. So delicious… Mouth-watery goodness!

Another day, another IPA. (Copyright 2017)

For dessert, I got a big ole Ben & Jerry’s ice cream waffle cone with two scoops of cookie dough!

Yummmmmmy. Just enough to get me to our next stop.

I purchased a VERMONT SWEATER (wearing it now to be honest) at a local gift shop. I was so happy. Dad kept farting in the store.. less happy about that hahaha.

I also got some Fireballs (spicy cinnamon jawbreakers)! Traditional Vermont candy that reminded me of when I used to go solo-mish trip with my Dad back when he was in the veal business. That and Charleston Chews, but I’ll save those for the next trip’s purchase.

As we made our way back to the resort, it was only early afternoon! So much day ahead of us. Riley said we could stay another night! I was so happy.

More pool, more hot tub, more food, and, you guessed it, more IPA ON TAP!

We went back to the local bar since a four-piece band was playing. They had some interesting covers (including I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry) that were played mostly to entertain the bachelorette party of 10-12 girls. A lot of dancing went on, but we just encouraged them from afar.

I was mega loud on the way back to the resort. A little on the tipsy side. My parents had to come in to the room a few times to tell me, Millie, and Riley to stop making noise and dancing. It was really hilarious.

We hit the hay that night to keep from getting scolded further and woke up a little on the early side the next morning.

More breakfast, more beer… kidding. We’d had enough at that point.

The car ride home was so fun as well. We listened to some good music and our jaws dropped at the picturesque views along the drive.

Once back in Montreal, it was noon… VERMONT IS SOOOO CLOSE…

We have to go back, we just have to! I’d love to organize a getaway with some friends and spend a few days there. I feel so relaxed and went to work so happy this morning. It was the perfect spontaneous say yes to Vermont trip.

Can’t wait to go back. Until then, there’s my sweater and the picture memories.
