NYE: Saying Goodbye to Ramanda2017

Fun fact: Riley first asked me to be his girlfriend on New Years Eve in 2016 (almost 2017!).

Every NYE (okay.. this is the 3rd since I've known him), we always celebrate a little extra to remember that special night where he "couldn't resist me" and chose to ring in the new year as my boyfriend instead of just the friend who also happened to be the love of my life.

This year, we celebrate our first December 31st as a married couple.

While NYE is technically a big celebration of what is next to come in the future year, today it's had me being a tad clingy to all that was twenty-seventeen.

No year is full of ALL good (what a year that would be...), and of course this past year came with some hard moments in both of our families and circles of friends. However, saying goodbye to "Ramanda2017" has proved to be tougher than I thought.

*wipes away tear*

'Twas the year that I was beyond spoiled as my best friend, Hannah, took on her more-than-rightfully earned role as Maid of Honour and blessed me with countless memories as I transitioned both in and out of bridehood. Not to mention her starting Riley and I off on the right foot throughout our first year of marriage by blessing us with monthly dates. Never stop dating your spouse folks! It's important.

The year (speaking of marriage) that I spent planning for the day where I stood in front of my now-husband and committed to being his wife and best friend for the rest of my life. Where we celebrated our love with all those near and dear to us and danced into the night.

The year that I traveled to Europe for the first time, after all those years of longing, and experienced the lovely city of Paris in all of its glory alongside my wonderful husband Riley.

The year that I dropped the "Junior" from my professional title and began to feel like I had gained respect in the workplace and, more importantly, dropped the "How old are you, 18?" jokes. Long-overdue... :P

The year I attended the most concerts I ever have in a 365-day span. Crossing off bucket-list artist Nick Jonas (YESSSSS!!!), and seeing Akon, Backstreet Boys, Jojo, Tegan and Sara, Run the Jewels, all those who performed at the JUNO Awards, and so many more with different friends and family members was an incredible experience, to say the least.

The year I brought a book club to life! Although still in its early stages with only myself, Riley, and Val as members, accomplishing the almost lifelong dream of sharing my love of books with others through a monthly club was the greatest.

The year that had all Sweeney family members home for the holidays. Having everyone gather together and celebrate within the same household was something I'll cherish for a long time.

The year that was, without a doubt, the best year I've ever had.

I am so thankful for all that I was blessed with and worked toward this past year. It's been difficult seeing it come to an end, and having to leave my fave hashtag of the year (#Ramanda2017) in the past.

Something tells me that #Ramanda2018, and all of 2018 for that matter, will bring even greater memories and moments to add to the collection that makes up my life.

I can't wait to see what this new year has in store for me and my loved ones.

Here's to you and yours! Wishing everyone a happy new year and the utmost heath and happiness for 2018 and beyond. <3
